I think it's Lacey who calls her sauce red gravy. I've heard of both before. Whatever it's called,it's good stuff!

It's cold and dreary out today, which calls for 'comfort' food!! So, dinner tonight will be hamburgers in onion and mushroom gravy over rice! I'll fix italian green beans and blackeyed peas on the side!! yummy, I'm getting hungry just typing it!!!

I think red eye gravy made with country ham and coffee, good with grits or biscuits?

Yes NMS it's what I call it-I was raised around great Italian families in NYC and spaghetti sauce when made with meats was gravy. Mr. L and I have debated this for 41 years!! LOL.

Marinara is sauce.

Oh how funny, I called meat sauce spaghetti sauce and meatless sauce for hubby marinara. Maybe I should call meat sauce gravy from now on. Would stop a lot of confusion here in my household.

What Lacey calls gravy, I call spaghetti sauce.

Pasta with red sauce would be topped with marinara. I might use either term to describe that dish. (red sauce or marinara)

I don't know why these things are so, they just are!!
