Tonite...steak with periogies
We were wondering what happened to you, glad to see you back! Are you working now?
No cooking today b/c yesterday I had this craving for all kinds of food so I spent my evening in the kitchen.
I prepared sour dough bread which I will bake tonight. Very yummie when fresh from the oven.
I also made cucumber salad and two other dishes:
Goulash not with meat but with Frankfurter sausages and
Chicken breast with a marinade of mustard, lemon juice, bell pepper powder and butter
- first the chicken breasts have to be laid in an oven pan and some of the marinade goes over it.
- bake for 15 minutes
- then turn the breast over and add the rest of the marinade
- some poppy seeds sprinkled over them
- bake another 15 minutes
for breakfast this morning I browned some "Finnan Haddie" in butter (smoked fish fillet--?cod maybe), fried some bacon and made a green salad and we had nice white rice.....
I hadnt seen Finnan Haddie since I was a kid, my mother loved it so when I saw it in the fish counter display yesterday I had to have it! The fish monger said he gets it for the "old timers" who have to have it for their chowdah. I can see that it would be good in a fish chowdah.....with potatoes, onions fried just a little, in rendered salt pork and then in a milk broth. Mom used to like it just browned in butter with her breakfast.
Welcome home nic! We were concerned as to what happened to you. I understand about the busy part! Hope you found a job you like or are getting close to it. Things have been going well here on the thread with many, many great ideas, recipes and just good friendly chat!
