Wound up with half a house full of drop-in company. I'm so glad we still had ground beef in the fridge. Made patties out of them, took franks out of the freezer, whipped up a quick pasta salad and that was it. DH BBQ's, which worked out great for me.
You made homemade BBQ sauce? Or just the whole BBQ was disappointing? I go through those kind of dinners more then I care to mention. It's such a bummer for sure! Sorry. If it was the BBQ sauce let me know cause I have a great sauce recipe--the best I've ever had! Easy too and fail-proof! Have a great day!

Nomadicus, I know why your leftover roast beast wasn't there - I used it Saturday night for the beef lo mein I made. Yum. Tons of veggies in it, too.
Yesterday, we stopped at a Chinese buffet early afternoon after we went shopping and were way too full to eat dinner later.
Tonight, I'm thinking marinated, grilled shrimp and sea scallops, maybe with some of the leftover lo mein and some slice veggies. We'll see how the day shapes up.
I'm considering stuffed green bell peppers tonight with mashed potatoes and of course sliced fresh tomatoes on the side. Only have 3 bell peppers right now but will run to the local produce stand to get some more of those freshly, homegrown bell peppers. Yum!
I'll make some oven potatoes. First I'll cook them about 20 minutes without peeling them beforehand.
Then I cut them in half, put them on foil and add all things I might find in the fridge like cheese, or I make a yogurt/tomatoe sauce etc. I add a table spoon of the sauce or a slice of cheese along with some herbs and spices to each half potatoe, then wrap them in the foil and put them in the oven.
We'll have leftover brats along with the potatoes.

Okay! This is a sweet but not to sweet red BBQ sauce.
1 cup of brown sugar
1cube butter
1 T. white vinegar
1 t. mustard (dry or prepared)
Oregano to taste (the Oregano makes this great)
2-3 drops of tabasco
BBQ spice to taste (it's called BBQ spice in the spice section)
Worchester sauce to taste
Garlic salt to taste
You can add honey also for variety.
Melt the butter and add the B. sugar then mix all the other ingredients and simmer, stirring often for about 20 minutes.
You can add more or less of the spices to fit your taste. It's so simple and yet so darn good!! Everyone who has had this loves it!! Enjoy.

Reason: adding on
My hubby is really sensitive to vinegar so I add 1/4 t. of water to the vinegar to make it not so strong. But as I've said, with this recipe you can basically add any amount of the seasonings to suit your own taste---it seems to always turn out good!
