I get local fresh just out of the ground garlic at the farmers market, make braids and hang in the garage for the year.

Cheaper than Christopher Ranch and the cheap chinese crap.

I never noticed where my garlic is coming from. Now I'll have to look.

I do have a jar of "Garlic Dude Dust" that I picked up on a visit to Gilroy, and it is delicious on popcorn, toast, veggies...

My garlic gets mailed to me from my father's garden in Southern Ohio. I am moving him to varieties with larger heads.

Did you plant hardneck or softneck garlic? If you planted hardneck you need to remove the scapes (flower stalks) when they emerge. BTW - the scapes are also edible. And if you have to thin some of the plants before they mature you can eat them as you would scallions.

For years I have been avoiding buying anything from China especially food and any wares that come
in contact with food such as dishes, silverware, bowls, pots/pans. If you think about it
plates are glazed and they can contain lead and what other chemicals, metals, or toxins are
in these products? Trying to buy these items is very difficult. Luckily and knock on wood,
I have what I need and hope nothing breaks.

Been an avid garlic user for a long time, no Whole Foods nearby, not able to grow anything on
our deck (no sun what so ever). New to do list: searching for non-chinese garlic.

I bought Spice Islands powdered dry garlic because it say: product of USA. I hope that's true.

Because in general we've been sold down the river to the sharks!

Christopher Ranch is in Gilroy - that's the garlic we buy at Costco. It is just gorgeous, with big, healthy cloves.

Apropos, have you been to Gilroy's Garlic Festival?

I never buy garlic in a jar, only fresh. I never (knowingly) buy food from China.

Another product--this shocked me--frozen orange juice. Made in China I never expected that. I bought some of Fred Meyer's brand, and when I got home I saw it said "Product of China". I will not make that mistake again.

Oops, it was apple juice, not orange juice. Anyway, it lowers my level of trust with Fred Meyer.
