Black eye peas. Slow cooked, with either chicken or ham hocks. I suppose if you want it vegan, you can just add veggies.

Sweet tea, definitely.

How about some triangle sandwich bites, with pimento cheese?

I've never used baking soda in my tea and it has never been cloudy or bitter. You cannot bring water to a boil with tea that is what causes the bitterness. That is a good trick to know! Thanks!

Where I'm from we boil the crap out of the tea for a minute or two...that's why the soda helps.

When I make tea for my wife in the morning I sure don't boil it! LoL

There's a great thread on how to make the perfect Iced Tea on here. The baking soda is an interesting tip. As a southerner I have never had bitter tea when making my own but I always boil the water and then add the tea bags after the sugar dissolves and then I let the tea steep. Thanks for sharing the tip through.

Now, let's get back on topic of this dinner. It's sounding delicious!

How about Lemonade in addition to the tea?

Beretta, you can boil the water as long as you don't put the tea bags in boiling water.
