tonight is the last time we have our dd over for her weekly visit as her husband will not be traveling until after the holidays. I always look forward to her visits, a few glasses of wine and a dinner that is just a bit special. I know when he travels she just throws whatever she can find together for dinner, even though she is a very good cook. Tonight we are having seafood stuffed cremes. I will stuff them with Lobster, shrimp and swordfish. The cremes were made yesterday. With the crepes we are having a nice green salad and squash which is on sale this week. Of course I will have a nice white wine for her and red for spoiled brat and me.

Subway for me, along with the last of my cucumber/onion/red wine vinegar/sugar/dill salad.

Husband is having chicken that he made on the grill yesterday - it was in the fridge long enough that I said, "Cook it or out it goes". He bought it, he can cook it.

LOL! So true, who knew roasting "broccoli balls" could make my new favorite winter veggie? Especially with a little balsamic, garlic & salt & pepper.

We're doing Chinese: fried rice, Chinese style roast pork, kung pao chicken and broccoli.

I'm nowhere NEAR functional at that time (Now that I think about it, I'm generally not coherent when it's 8 AM your time and 10:00 my time) and you already have dinner DONE? Can you please move closer to me and please and be my friend and please cook for me? Or at least wake me UP?

Tonight it's meat loaf, oven-baked potatoes, scalloped corn and cole slaw with apple pie for dessert.

I have a friend whose husband just got out of the hospital and she's having knee surgery tomorrow. Talk about crazy timing! So I made two of everything and am going to surprise them with a home-cooked dinner for their first couple of days.

I've always used bread crumbs in my meat loaf and this time I tried soda cracker crumbs. I think I like it better.

We like eggs just fine but there is something about putting a raw egg in meat loaf where the taste comes through to me as unpleasant so I'm always looking for a method of binding the meat without that eggy taste. The cracker crumbs work better, I see.

I use hickory smoked salt or a dash of liquid smoke and glaze it with our favorite BBQ sauce and bacon.
