The Twin Cities used to have Pic A Pop and Pop Shop, but I think those were Canadian things also. Maybe also for other parts of the US.
Philly (PA, USA) suburbs we had A-Treat and Franks as local soda companies.
Yeah, Patty Smythe from Scandal used to advertise Frank's soda. And they served it at Frank's Chicken House, an alcohol-free nudie bar in Manville, NJ. That may have been the farthest away from Philly that Frank's soda got!
I think I live on the northern extent of horchata availability.
I love horchata. Every Spanish-speaking country has its own version. I like the Salvadoran version best. In Spain, they make horchata with chufa nuts (aka tiger nuts).
I grew up in Virginia, and as OP/DirtGrinder mentioned in his first post, I have fond memories of Sassafrass tea. People down here don't even know what it is.
We used to dig-up the roots and dry them in the summer.
I have never seen Big Red soft drink anywhere but in Texas, so it could well be unique to the state. Doctor Pepper, often shortened to 'DP', though definetly not unique to Texas, seems to be far more popular here than in other states.
We have Big Red here, in Dixie, but it's definitely a Texas concoction.
