I'm from the Chicago area and currently in Orange County, NY. I really miss home run inn frozen pizza and lemon rice soup that is served at every diner type place. I have tried to make the soup but it's not even close.
I lived in Southern California for 20+ years and love the selection of Mexican food and restaurants there. The rice & beans, tacos, salsas, burritos and meats were excellent.
There are also restaurants there that serve pastrami sandwiches with heaps of pastrami.
I moved from GA to Iowa, I used to stock up on Duke's mayonnaise and White Lily cornmeal when I went far enough south...fortunately I can order them now and have them delivered. I do still have trouble finding other Southern staples like Collard Greens, Black Eyed peas, White Acre peas, at least a decent price.
I have come to enjoy some new things here in the Midwest like Jack's pizza, cheese curds & "Port Ts".
Grew up in Dublin, Ireland so i definately miss certain Irish food, milk, and snacks after living in the U.S for nearly 22 years. Luckily, there's a great irish store i can order online with free shipping to get some of my favorites!
I do also miss the Polish bakeries especially the kolaches. The food here is awful. I figured that the NYC transplants would have brought some better quality here but nope. Nothing but gross pizza, third rate delis and Chinese/Japanese restaurants.
