Yes, I've found pearls in many oysters but they are always tiny, misshapen things.

I had the best clams I've ever eaten at The Boathouse in Disney Springs in Orlando. I didn't know they could be that tasty.

Up to that point, the only clams I remember I ate at HoJos that were frozen and came out of a bag.

All of the bivalves are delicious. IMO, Scallops taste the "cleanest" sorta like cod or other firm white ocean fish but with a better texture. Clams are chewy and I don't like them raw, but are otherwise a very tasty seafood. They are excellent in seafood chowders, friend, or steamed. Mussells are really easy to steam, get out of their shells, and are less chewy than clams, IMO. I've never had them anyway but steamed with butter, not sure they have a strong enough taste to hold up in other dishes like their culinary kin.

Oysters are an acquired taste, nothing else really like them. Being from Maryland, I acquired that taste and loved to eat them raw, steamed, in a simple stew, as dressed up appetizers, however.

Of course, I have an adult onset seafood allergy (honestly probably always allergic and just was in denial until it landed me in ER) so have one of each for me next time you partake!

I chew them. I like them raw with a little bit of Crystal hot sauce and little lemon juice.

Yes. Yes we do.

Looking back, I had a misspell of the very same word in my post picking on you...

It's funny how we don't see things until later when we look again. Thanks everyone for your responses

There a lot of varietys of clams and oysters. I tend to like tiny oysters and big clams. The tiny oysters are less chewy when cooked.

I love steam clams, the juice is so delicious. I know people don't eat escargo in America but it is also one of my favorite. Much more meaty than both clams and oysters.

clams are also good for bait....ive could thousands of harbor pollock and mackerel from raw clams...on a hook..

a scallop is also a bivalve.... (the shell looks like the "shell" gas station sign
they are big ….and the "scallop" is simply the muscle that holds the shells together … the "guts" of the scallop is shucked and discarded ...use to drag for these on the ocean floor ….in the winter..... also use to eat them raw quite often ...very good!
