Spoiled brats night to choose: He wants chili so I will start it when we come home from Water Walking this morning. I already have the beans soaking. With it, I may make a small salad.

Today is pork roast, mashed potatoes with gravy and salad. I might swap the salad for creamed spinach though. I’m hungry already.

Someone left a half bushel of apples on my deck. Guess it's apple pie time.

I'm accepting them with mixed feelings. Looks like these are definitely organic with several accompanying problems. That means they will be time-consuming.

I feel that old familiar fall dilemma of how much time do I want to spend putting up food that is relatively cheap to buy vs. being outside to enjoy these last few truly warm days of dwindling summer.

According to the extended forecast this may be the last day it will be warm enough to get in the water outside. Think I'll take some frozen BBQ ribs from the freezer and go to the pond to meditate upon the apples.

I have garlic breadsticks and chocolate tapioca pudding in the refrigerator.
