I read this blog post with amusement. The contributors are actual food people in one way or another. They hate some aspect of cooking. Usually they describe some sort prep work, although one of them hates to bake.
I am with the person in the article who hates fussing with fresh garlic. And, truth to tell, most fresh garlic I get has little flavor. I switched to jarred garlic awhile ago, and I’m not changing back.
A task I simply avoid is cooking some concoction on the stove for looog minutes, or (horrors) hours. I would probably forget it and scorch or burn it. I have no patience for long stove cooking.
What is your most dreaded task as you cook. How do you avoid doing it? Or do you manage to avoid it?
I like cooking, but I hate making anything that requires "continuous stirring over a low flame" for 10 or 15 or more minutes. I will never attempt risotto again.
If I can leave it on a burner to take care of itself while I go do something else, no problem. I just set the kitchen timer.
I only do it once a year but it's one of my least favorite tasks. That is getting up early in the morning and, before I've even had enough coffee to steel my nerves, having to chase a slippery, ice cold turkey carcass around in my roaster trying to stuff it. Shudder.
Fortunately, now that the older generation has passed on, there is no one left who absolutely must sit down to the dinner table at twelve noon on the dot. That gives me some time to mentally prepare for what always seems like a gruesome ordeal.
I love eating fresh wontons, I don't look forward to making them even when I buy the wrappers cuz it's three steps to get to eating; prep/cook the fillings, fill/fold/seal the wontons one...at...a...time, cook the wontons in stages.
anything to do with a whole fish. Seeing the eyes & the head disturbs me, & I end up not eating any of it, even if hubby chops off the head. Also do not like to mess with shrimp poops/shells. I tend to buy the fish in filets, ready to go, same with shrimp, ready to eat or cook. I sometimes get given a whole fish by people who fish.
Meal “planning”.... for me. What do you want for dinner? I don’t care... you decide. Thanks for your input! Ok... so far this week we’ve had... yada, yada, yada. Now what do I make?
And don’t tell me... we just had this ( or you might end up wearing it).

You nailed it on the "meal planning". I hate it, and it just feels weird and unnatural to me. My DW is more of a planner, while I'm spontaneous.
