Just to be more clear, I just want jars with screw-on lids, I'm not actually canning and preserving things for long-term.

Where do you buy them though? The only size I've seen stores sell are the pint size. And I've worked in a LOT of stores, you might even say that stocking shelves is my career. Restaurant supply store?

Amish & farm supply stores plus our state fair sells the half gallon jars every year over towards the farming area. You can order the half gallons online from Ball directly as well. The gallons are not safe to can in other than juice they are mostly for pickling really now days.
