Tonight I made dry rub ribs, broccoli cauliflower salad, and roasted potatoes. Mr. Gentle has decided he doesn't like sticky, sweet bbq sauce anymore, but he likes dry rub. Actually, it was much easier to make them this way...just rubbed em with Mccormick's and baked at 350 for 1 1/2 hours. I usually go through this huge low and slow, baste about a million times, routine. I wouldn't have thought they would come out good this way, but they did.
I will try making my own rub mixture next time.

Tonight is tacos. I'll be using the chorizo and served on multi-grain tortillas with cheese and lettuce.

The good news is that taking the Niacin has lowered my husband's triglycerides as well as mine. My LDL has also dropped and my total cholesterol has gone down as well. This healthier diet seems to be working. Now if my knee would hold up to more exercise I might be able to get my HDl up.

I did think of that, but um..after DH response to the failure, (and after it bubbled up and messed up my oven) I decided I just darn well wanted to throw the whole mess out, and not add any more "good Ingredients" after bad! LOL (Y'all ALL know exactly how I felt! LOL) Honestly, I was going to add some instant potatoes, but I would have had to divide it into 2 large casserole dishes to do so. What was so aggravating was the taste of the "flop" was delicious - just not the consistancy. AND, by that time I was so frustrated - threw it out - and debated for quite some time since I hate hate hate wasting anything! Finally decided my peace of mind was worth it! LOL

It became more and more fragrant as the night went on.....really lovely smell. Talc like.
OK, NOW I am going to have to try this "at home"! LOL

I know that it's the summer, but what does a good Chinese boy like me know about grits??? LOL!

The International market had the most gorgeous wild caught shrimp. They actually tasted like shrimp! They were lovingly cleaned and sautéed in butter and garlic to be added to the grits.

Okay, enough sharing and typing, I have a new cookbook! I know, food porn
OK, grits IS groceries, ain't it you nice lil Chinese boy! (You tickle me so much with all this "mess" you talk! BTW - Aren't you a nice Jewish Chinese Boy? Hm.............Why am I thinking that - I am quite sure it has something to so with some cute thing you have said! LOL)
Also, your description of the grits and shrimp is KILLING me right now! No lie! I am really wishing I had a big ole mess of them right now. <sigh>

kelsie so glad they are able to save your work!

Hi foodies been a long day but very fulfilling.

Made sausage gravy & biscuits with fried taters for supper DS was a very happy camper. Sent him home with the leftovers and some of the ham & beans from the other night. We took some to an elderly couple also today plus the neighbor lady. So we have maybe one bowlful a piece left here at home so no over load on ham & beans but got the hankering taken care of.

Don't know when I will get caught up on threads but had to give my foodies a shout out before hitting the hay! Have a super weekend all!

Mixed a couple small bits of chicken breast with some home made tarragon Mayo, 2 Hard Boiled Egg Whites, a couple spoon fulls of Sweet Relish, cut up sweet red onion, cut up zucchini ball, cut up broccoli slaw with carrots & red cabbage, threw in couple small handfuls of cooked Spelt Macaroni, pumpkin seeds, pine kernels, flax seeds & black sesame seeds... then after mixing it all up, I put it on some health nut bread (even though it would have been great alone, I was in the mood for a sandwich!) and YUMMMOLITTTAAAA!!!! What a yumolicious dinner it was!

Had a few slices of Jack Fruit for desert! Perfect!!!

Chased it all down with a glass of fresh limeade.

I was too wiped out last night after a marathon day to stop by the table, but I did think of all of you. So glad to know that Kelsie's important work was saved - I never fail to be awed by folks who can make those computers come back to life.

We came home from Farmers' Market last weekend with a huge bunch of beets, so spouse made a pot of borscht last night. It was mighty tasty stuff. He warmed up the last of the Varenyky that we made back in the spring, too, a nice easy and satisfying supper.

Not sure what tonight will bring, though I hope it's earlier than last night was. Have a good Friday, all!
