Almost as if someone coordinated efforts to come out and start negative threads about South Florida.

I think what it is is that there is just some type of feeling you get down here and the vibe that people have down here. I personally have a love/hate relationship with South Florida. I love the weather, the people can be pretty cool, I like the diversity, and the nightlife isn't bad at all. My problems with South Florida is that the salaries are low, the women have big time attitude problems compared to women from elsewhere, and the economy isn't great.

All in all, it isn't a bad place to be. I'd rather be here than about 70% of the rest of the country.

ruski, I agree in some ways with your post. I got on the site because we are moving to South Florida. I am from a major city, my wife is from a major city and we have been to South Florida several times. I am fully aware of what living in Miami means, but wanted to research advice and such from the locals. I was shocked by the amount of negativity I was reading....... Maybe it is a sign of the times we live in, financial hardship and a generation who does not know how to appreciate things.

Life is 10% circumstance and 90% what you make of it!

Even though I am young, it is mostly older and middle age people complaining on here. Its not a young person thing. Young people in general love living in South Fl because there is so much to do and the beaches are so close. Middle age and older people moan and groan because the area has changed so much the past 20 years. It went from a mostly white retirement area in the 70's to a gigantic metropolis with crime, drugs, bad traffic, and an ever increasing immigrant influx.

exactly . Most immigrants want to go back their homeland in latin america, because they dont see the economy coming back anytime soon . I go to LA FITNESS . i am friends with many differnet immigrants , 75% are disgruntled with life in SO FLORIDA and want to return home to colombia , barzil, whetever . they come to usa for money, nothing more . to make a lot then go back and live a good life never working hard again . all the ponze schemes busted , ao they are not schemming anymore, no money coming in .......... example: brazilian guy at LA FITNESS , he been here 13 year , he works hard but he hates the US , he wants go back home to brasil because he can't get rich in US . he came here thinking in 10 years he be millionair .

Nolefan34, that is good to hear! I am young, or should I say I still consider myself young lol. My wife and I are in our 30's. It seems as though a lot of what I hear people moaning about on these threads are characteristic of any major city and to be honest a lot of them have the air of prejudice.

Well I think a lot of the complaints are legit. I think South FL has far worse problems than most other major cities. But it doesn't change the fact that I am happy here for now.

Cost of living, insurance is a real eye opener for most. Gangsta/thug mentality is rampant particularly in the bigger cities after dark.

It seems to be a location of re-creation for many. Life sucks in Ohio, well let's move to Florida!
