My husband will be at SOUTHCOM in Doral for 3 years.
Would Weston be too far of a commute? Also thinking about Pemboke Pines or Cooper City. We have a 3 & 5 year old, so we need good preschool/kindergatens.

Anything off of I-75 is good for area or commute. This includes Weston, Pembroke Pines (especially west of I-75), Davie, Southwest Ranches, Cooper City, and Miramar (especially west of Red Rd). Weston would only add about another 5 minutes compared to Pembroke Pines and about the same as Cooper City. Unless there is an accident, Weston is about a 30 minute straight shot to Doral via the turnpike extension and the traffic is usually moving at about 70-75 MPH cruising speed at rush hour. It's not a stressful commute at all from any point in SW Broward.

Weston is quite popular with SOUTHCOM people. I have known a few people living in Weston and commuting to SOUTHCOM. One was my neighbor until he got assigned to another part of the country. Welcome to the area. Thank you for your service.

Commute is not the shortest, but very doable. I used to commute to Doral for 3 years. If you pick the right time of the day, it is not bad at all.

Pretty much. If you are really lucky, you might be able to break even after three years (and I doubt that), but renting is probably a safer bet, especially in the short term.

It is about a 40 -45 minute commute from Weston to Doral during rush hour .... but Weston is a much , much better place to live than Doral and there are many SOUTHCOM people living in Weston and commuting to Doral . You should also check out Cooper City as it is also a superb place for a family and would only add ten minutes to your Doral commute .
