I know you were sarcastic. Your posts are honest. Thank you.

The city of Cape Coral is the laughingstock of Lee County due to your "leadership." "
" Where is the Economic Development? Where is the Vision for Cape Coral? Where is the restoration of Public Trust? Where is the Forensic Audit of the UEP/FEP? (I am not in support of this, but it was part of your pledge) "

" You have managed to "reform the city administration", by hiring an inexperienced city manager with intimate ties to several of your campaigns. You then provided bonus incentives for a budget that he didn't create and allowed the hiring of two consultants (also with ties to several of your campaigns) that he needed to do his job. “"

Very good point, it is the people that govern here that have do to ineptitude kept the area from becoming an economic power house. there is absolutely no reason why the City of Cape Coral and SWFL can not be as prosperous as other regions in the country. (once the country recovers) The mismanagement by the government is the problem not the citizens or the people that live here. City government has failed to bring companies and manufactures to Cape Coral to provide jobs and replenish the tax base, so taking more money from residents just got pushed to the top of the list for city government, otherwise they can’t maintain the same out of control, no accountability level of spending that currently exists.

Too kind of words to describe what is happening.

Not only they do not have any vision for current or future economic development, but also because of "mismanagement" they have damaged the livelihood of the city. As a result people are leaving.

“ In this case, the undesignated cash reserve balance would be reduced to as little as $9.4 million - the equivalent of less than one month's operating expenses. This would accelerate a decline in reserves that would violate the City policy, which states we are required to maintain a minimum of two months of operating expenses. ”

Lucky ones who have moved away from this city! It is getting worse on daily basis.

I am not a resident of the city. I am not a registered voter. I don't typically get too involved in discussions about local politics. From an outsiders point of view the city..... The city has cut spending and reduced taxes over the last two years. You say the taxes are too high but then post an article about a budget shortfall... Hello? you can't have both. you either have to fund programs or cut them. 75% of the city's budget is personelle related. So to cut taxes you must either lay off police, fire fighters, city workers, attack their benefits or pension plans. Out of the other 25%, you can't complain about services such as parks and recs, and canals being dredged and roads being bad if you don't want to pay for them.

This is about the dumbest argument i hear in every state and at the federal gov't.

Understand people don't work for free. If you want these services you have to pay for them. how you pay is subject to discussion. Should it be sales tax, income tax , property tax, etc.

What I have noticed is my personal tax burden of my 3 cape coral properties have gone down by about 2/3 since I have owned the properties. And I have not noticed a signifigant difference in services provided.

This particular council and mayor are doing exactly what they said they were going to do if elected.

people say they are not bringing in jobs... looks that way to me they shot down the swim center, san soucy project, utility expansion, expanding pine island road to bring in a super walmart and a regional mall, a fly over project..

I agree with some of their decisions (except for expanding utilities and the pine island road project).

Then you post a thread regarding amendment 4 (which failed) that would have limited the ability to bring businesses here.

My advice.... pick a side and argue it. There are good and bads from both sides and sometimes you come across as arguing the bad on both sides so it's hard to figure if you're even on a side (or is your side anti cape coral no matter what)

Ahem.

The reason there is a budget short fall is because there is a government that is way to large for this city and that the money get waisted, instead of spent wisely. Not because they don't collect enough taxes, they have the same problem as the federal government here, spend spend spend then raise taxes to cover their spending. I hope your not a property owner here because they are thinking of taxing vacant lots for water now. One of the city cousil members called it "EQUITY REDISTRIBUTION" Welcome to the Socialist Republic of Cape Coral
