A friend and her 20 year old son are looking for condo or home to purchase in the range of 55-85 thousand. Not senior community! Does this sound feasable? Any recommendations near or in a golf community? Safe area only!

setting aside the issue of work and schooling, they should start with renting and begin the process of learning the area.

the area has something for every snack bracket. Golfing is everywhere, and is really cheap outside of the high season.

there is only one small area of SWF that would be considered "unsafe" by some, mostly between Page Field and Downtown, west of the 75 (very roughly speaking), east of the trail.

One place that comes close to $85,000 is Riverbend Golf and Country club near the river in North Fort Myers. There are million dollar homes but also some condos under $100,000. Try Vision One realty.

It depends on how much you are looking to spend on the golf side. In gateway you can pick up a condo and get a golf memebership attached to it. Some members were selling their equity memeberships at discounted rates, almost giving them away. High unemployment and foreclosure rates are driving some full time residents out.

From my experience selling short sales and bank owned properties I would say you really should have your agent provide hoa financial report for the community you plan on buying in.

Let me know what other questions you have.

Mike
