So judging from what you seen, what would you price that house at in Tenn? I know here it would go for about the $200k you posted.

Oh! Excellent question! And a good game to play while I am sitting here tapping my fingers waiting for the paperwork.

Of course, it all depends on location. But let's put it in my neighborhood. I live five houses away from a good elementary school and the house was built about the same time as these houses here. Many of the houses around here are about the same size and most are ranches. Our lots are about 1/2 acre, and that one looks small, but let's just keep the small lot. It looks like a small office with separate entrance but no central air, I think.

I would guess that it would finally go, in the end, for around here for $100,000.

Bear in mind that I am still in The South. Cost of living is very low, but so are wages. We also didn't have a boom or bust.

I have no idea what that neighborhood is like, though. Pedophiles live everywhere. Even in upper-class, gated communities. Studies have found, time and again, that it knows no bounds. Unfortunately. As a matter of principal I don't believe in the death penalty. I have some real death issues. I absolutely hate killing flies. (I know. I told you. Issues.) But society would be better off killing these people immediately, if they are proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Now that I've tripped down that garden path...

I found that in swFlorida, a house of that age is not usually in a decent area. Up here, or in MA, or WI a house like that is often in the Leave It To Beaver neighborhood. But in Florida, 1962 often means that the crackwhores have moved into the neighborhood.

Not always true, but as a general rule of thumb, it usually is.

Hum sounds like we are alot alike. I hate killing anything also. I tried to kill a mouse that was trying to live in my kids dresser, leaving droppings behind, so I got out the decon, oh my that little mouse came in the kitchen, blood coming out of his mouth, as if to say how could you. I called my DH crying and crying saying I killed him...(issues)... I will never do that again..
Now if it were self defense against someone hurting my kids or my puppies well that would be a different story.
Its a cruel world we live in for our kids and pets for that matter.

That is so funny! I don't feel so bad, anymore. At least I know there is one of me out there. My husband thinks I'm crazy.

Disagree. I'm glad you said "not always true" because without even trying, I can find hundreds of houses built in the 1960s that are in very nice neighborhoods. People lived all over Florida before the big housing boom. Venice has many nice streets with older homes. There's a home on Boca Grande listed for $1.3 million build in the 1960s. Down the block from where I was living in Bonita, a few homes built in the mid 1960s are listed for $800,000 (down from over a million a few years ago) Then there's McGregor Blvd where the Edison Home is located. Very nice homes around that area.

I agree. Mr. Bakin's grandmother's house was built in the 60's as was most of her area of town. She lives on the water in a sturdy house in a beautiful neighborhood and friendly neighbors. And NO foreclosures OR renters on her block!
