Dallas has a 5-stack like the one I showed you (635 @ 75 I believe). It's called the High-Five. It's newer, taller and more aesthetically pleasing than the one in Houston. The one in Houston is pretty damn tall though!!!
So in your opinion if you had to select from one of the major cities in TX...Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston...where would you rate Fort Worth in terms of it's overpasses 5 being the worst or tallest in this scenario.

Thanks!

Default BEST of Fort Worth!

Can you guys tell me what parts of Fort Worth are "best" based on my criteria below:

1. Affordable housing....a single family house with 3bedroom/2 bath under $125K. (Zip codes would be wonderful so I can search on realtor.com)

2. Safety.

3. Close to Shopping/museums/arts/recreation etc. (I'd like to be as close to downtown as possible.)

4. If there is anyway to avoid the overpasses to get to downtown.

Thanks!

Houston's tallest interchange is probably the one at the Katy Freeway (I-10) at the Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8), and that interchange is undergoing a makeover. As for overpasses there and in the Metroplex, I don't recall going over anything that I would call "scary".

But if I happen to catch anything in the next few days, I'll fill you in.

Default Really, Really Need To Know

Hi Folks!,

I really need to know what part of Fort Worth is decent and affordable and safe. What sections should I avoid? Where can one get a 2 bedroom apt for less than $800 but still remain close enough to the arts/museums/rec. etc.

THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!
Really need to know this pronto!

Are the overpasses we are talking about limited to freeway-to-freeway interchanges, or are we including bridges with limited sight distance going over side streets?

I've only lived in TX for going on 17 years, but I don't think I've ever been over a "scary overpass" since I've been driving anywhere. Overpasses in the D/FW area are a fact of life around here. You must have a bad case of acrophobia. If so, I don't know what else you can do but move out in the country somewhere.

With the exception of the bridge failure in where, Minnesota?, a few weeks back, I've not heard of any problems with the overpasses round here. Don't know of any suspension bridges, either, at least on main thoroughfares in this area.

Good luck in your search of flatlands!

I have to admit that you are probably right. I guess there is no way around it..I am hoping that I will get used to it and soon. I just never cared for the roller coasters!

Thank you all for the information.

Travelled the last three most of my life. It's nothing, really! It's actually cool to be able to see great distances from up there! Although, try to keep your eyes more on the road ahead of you!
