The only problem with Fort Worth Skyline is it needs a couple of signature towers. Downtown will look completely different if it had 2 or three towers that stood out in height . We praise Houston and Dallas Skyline, but all those cities did was add a couple of large buildings that ultimately transformed their downtowns.

Ya know, it really doesn't take much to make downtown Fort Worth look different when it comes to the skyline.

I mean, look....

This is downtown 10 years ago....

...this is downtown just a couple of years ago....

....and this is downtown now.

Only one or two buildings were added or taken away within the past decade. It virtually looks the same... yet at the same time, it looks different. Ya know what I mean?

It's just pathetic.
And as mentioned earlier, there are SEVERAL spots to put up new towers WITHOUT tearing down the older buildings which gives downtown its small town charm.

It is what it is.

Not overly impressive like Dallas or Houston, yet no slouch either like say El Paso or Phoenix for instance. On a scale of 1-10 I give Fort Worth's skyline a high 5 maybe a low 6 for trying.

Hardly any metro has lots of office towers going up these days. Even in Dallas the growth is smaller condo building in the uptown area, not really true defining skyline-changers. All of that occurred in the 70s and 80s.

I don't know about that.

Austin's skyline has changed drastically the past 10 years, more so than any other city in Texas. Houston & Dallas have built quite a few 300+ foot structures too, but nothing over 500 feet like in Austin just yet although Houston will have a 630 footer with Main Place when its completed in a few more years.

Ft Worth is doing the right thing for now by developing a walkable, livable, active downtown and; unlike Dallas and Houston, FW has saved and restored much of our older building stock. Give people a desire to live, work and visit downtown, the height will come eventually.

Funkytown looks just fine to me.

Also, there's not much room in Dallas or Houston to build alot more highrises. Well, Dallas maybe, because Houston will build a 1000 footer 5 miles north of downtown....

Austin, is just one of the lucky cities that will dramatically change their skyline, along with Miami and Vegas.

Fort Worth has a history of NOT taking big projects. Which is both good and bad.

Austin hardly has a lot of skyline-defining buildings because of the height rules. There are no hallmark "that's Austin" things about the skyline other than the State Capitol.

What height rules? You mean the Capitol View Corridors? Those affect only a small # of downtown building sites; although urban legend has them as much more strict... Anyway, a picture tells a thousand words.

No hallmark towers, huh?

Frost Bank Building

The 360

One Congress Plaza

The Austonian (halfway complete)

The Main Building of UT

And don't have to mention the State Capitol....

When most people see these buildings, they instantly think: "Austin".
Fort Worth has signature towers.... but they're not popular enough.
