Stuff I do not need I usually just toss in the garbage or donate.

Too much hemming and hawing about getting rid of things, usually leads to piles and piles of unneeded stuff.

We have a Buy Nothing group on FB... it's a "hyperlocal gifting community" where you offer stuff up for free to people super close to you. I still donate a ton of stuff that I don't have time to post, but it's pretty fun to pick someone in the neighborhood over who's 4yo is going to love the bike my 7yo grew out of.

If you don’t want to simply give it away, then you’re gonna have to except the fact that it will take time. If you don’t want to spend the time, then donate it.

I realize that those are my only choices; I was just curious how other frugal people dispose of unwanted items.

Without angst.

Unless the item is really valuable, I donate to the humane society thrift store.

I don't want strangers poking around my house and grounds.

You have to decide how much time you want to allow for things to be sold. You can always list things online, have a garage sale, AND give away anything you haven't been able to sell after "X" days. You get to pick what "X" is. 2 days, 7 days, 10 days, whatever. If you do not want to sell online then just skip that part. Garage sale one weekend and then take what is left to Goodwill.

The angst is quickly replaced by relief once this stuff is gone.

Out Habitat Restore will pick up large items - you wouldn’t even have to get in your car. We redid a kitchen and they came and got our old cabinets, a sofa, dishwasher, and a club chair. I have a also done a free curb alert on FB marketplace. I put the item on FB that it’s free, on the curb and first come first serve. Most items gone in less than 30 minutes.

Please ASK the library first if they want them. Some don't.
