If overseeding this fall, be sure to lower that cutting height as you want to hold off mowing for about 3 weeks.

Fall has finally arrived with cooler temps. Dropping the mower deck just by one notch.

With the lack of rain, I haven't mowed 3 or 4 weeks

My lawn is so bone dry, I created a small dust storm when I used the lawn mower to pick up and shred the leaves. Three months ago, I had a thick, green tall fescue lawn. But I chose not to water the lawn this summer. And with no rain in sight, I haven't aerated and reseeded the lawn.

Don’t make the mistake of lowering the cutting deck going into fall.

Keeping it higher will keep the grass greener throughout the winter months.

It is that time again to raise the cutting height on your lawnmower.

Depending on what cutting height you are currently at, I would recommend start raising the cutting height depth by about a half an inch a week until you tap out around 4 to 4 1/4 inch.

Just about 4” makes for an excellent cutting height.
