My lawn is so bone dry, I created a small dust storm when I used the lawn mower to pick up and shred the leaves. Three months ago, I had a thick, green tall fescue lawn. But I chose not to water the lawn this summer. And with no rain in sight, I haven't aerated and reseeded the lawn.

Don’t make the mistake of lowering the cutting deck going into fall.

Keeping it higher will keep the grass greener throughout the winter months.

Depending on what cutting height you are currently at, I would recommend start raising the cutting height depth by about a half an inch a week until you tap out around 4 to 4 1/4 inch.

Just about 4” makes for an excellent cutting height.
