I am getting ready for my first spring planting in the North. I love variegated vinca vine but it is not a perennial here I understand. What would be a good alternative?

What about regular Vinca minor? I have some, but be warned, it's very invasive.

And actually, there are varieties of variegated vinca vines that are hardy here in Ct.:

Wayside Gardens: Vinca Illumination PP#12,132 - A variegated Periwinkle (Vinca minor) with blue spring flowers and green-edged yellow foliage; evergreen in the south.
