I'll begin... 1st mow of the season was today... Here are last years stats as well.

A lot of those 7+ days was because of it raining every other day pretty much all year. Was tough to time it between work, rain, and life.

10 days in a row with rain has been tough to get it done sooner this month.. I had to time it perfectly today before it rained again.

Cambium do you know if your lawn is of the Bermuda or centipede grass variety or is it bluegrass or some other cool season grass, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks for asking, of course I don't mind. I have cool season turf here, No Bermuda or Centipede, that's mostly for down south but can be grown in transition zones.

Mine is a mix of Rye Grass and Fescues with a little bluegrass but not much at all.. KBG is my favorite but I don't want to re-do entire lawn to get it.

A little Info that may help others:

Fine fescues: shade tolerant but they do not tolerate heat and dry conditions.
Ryegrass: tolerate heavy foot traffic, but does not tolerate extreme cold or drought conditions.
Fescues (both tall and fine) are often found in mixes due to their tolerance of shade, foot traffic, cold and drought.

Well, I've been working on my lawn because due to the unusual amount of rain this past year, it looks bad to me, and it usually doesn't.

Here in NE Texas we rely heavily on Bermuda and Centipede grass for summer, with some St Augustine in the shade. My yard is usually so green and verdant, with very few weeds, but this year we got two of my least favorite weeds (not like there are good ones) - crab grass (HATE IT WITH A PASSION) and OH MY GOSH, those little yellow stickers!!!!!!! I can't believe it - I swear I'd rather have just about any other kind of weed than those two and we got both of them. In spite of pre emergent fertilizer applied like we have applied it every other year.

So this past week, we aerated the yard, and had a commercial company come out and put some heavy duty fertilizer and weed killer on it. Then I sowed some Bermuda grass seeds and now it's been raining gently all day. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Last time I got crab grass I had to just go around and pull it out - no weed killers would work on it. It took me two or three years to get rid of it all. Man, I hope I don't have to do that this year.

From a distance our yard looks nice and green and lush, because it IS well fed and definitely well watered, but up close ugh, it looks pretty bad - bringing out all my OCD tendencies!

We've been mowing now for at least a month.

I'm outside of Pittsburgh and have mowed twice. This is the second spring in a row that I have had a lot of chickweed. I tried spraying weedkiller but it didn't seem to kill it.

This is also the second year of the neighborhood being infested with moles. There are tunnels through everyone's yards. I'e set a trap but only caught one. I have a couple of the electronic devices to keep them out of the front yard, but they also don't seem to be working.

Seems like lots of us are dealing with the rain issues. Hard to get timing on cutting. Either soaked, raining, or not good timing to cut. I'm kinda surprised you only mowed twice though. I would think your season started like months ago down there. I'm at 2 here. Hopefully 3 when the sun comes back out

5th and warmest mow of the year so far here in SouthWestern CT. Only had 4 last yr by Mid May. Lots of rain and warmer this yr vs last.

Heat coming so I'll be raising the deck next time.

Annoying stuff. I believe Wild Violet?

My neighbor's lawn is covered with Wild Violet. Lat year, it began to creep over on to my lawn. So I pulled out each one by hand. This year, I don't have any Wild Violet issues. I've also applied Lesco Pre-Emergent along the border over the part couple of months.

Interesting: My neighbor across the street does nothing to her lawn and everything comes flying over. Wonder if that did too. I use Lesco pre emergent but it still comes up every yr. Not sure I want to tackle each by hand. I know they sell a spray for it, I might have to look into it. Might as well do it now right?
