Paper Lawn bag does not really hold too much, is it possible to burn leaves, in stead of buying so many paper bags every year.

Unlike wood, wind could blow burning leaves away, so it is not safe and I should not do so.

Maybe I should build a big compost bin in backyard.

It depends on where you live. In our rural areas people burn leaves, branches, and weeds all the time. Here in our city burning anything other than in the fireplace or outdoor Chimenea is illegal, and even that may be banned at times due to fire danger or air quality issues.

Call your county and ask or look up rules online.

It wasn't legal in a FL county I lived in to burn anything in yard but a neighbor kept doing it even after I told her it was not allowed. She had a big metal drum. I finally printed the county ordinances and mailed it to her husband and she quit doing it.
It really caused me trouble breathing plus did a lot of gardening right next to her yard which kept me from enjoying my property.

My grandparents, in another state long ago, also burned yard waste in a large metal drum. It's a common practice but causes air pollution and can cause wildfires. Some people don't know it's not legal where they live but in other areas it's common and legal.

They make mesh covers for fire pits. You could get rid of leaves that way. Our trash service will take it as long as it’s in small, manageable bites. Hubby enjoys sneaking yard waste into the weekly trash. It feels like sticking it to the man.

as a kid growing up we had 40 fruit trees, and once old enough (about 12) I did most of the pruning. I hated it, cold outside, muddy, and working from a noisy aluminum ladder. The only part I enjoyed was burning the green branches afterward, with the smell of the smoke shooting upward. It didn't bother any neighbors, because we had a half acre and I was burning way in the back, away from any homes. Now here, I have to use the chipper-shredder, probably more annoying from the sound of the 10 horsepower engine.

depends on where you live - the city or county code

Are you in fire danger type of setting - etc.

I used to compost a large amount of my leaves, but I also burned a bunch from the trees nearer my house in the ditch. It was a great way to clean out the weeds in the ditch, plus it made a lovely, 50 ft. long line of fire. If they hadn't been so close to my garage I would also have burned off my row of zebra plants every fall instead of having my garden helpers chainsaw them to a manageable level - that would have been a TRULY impressive wall of flames!
