Does anyone have advice for repotting a large mandevilla? Mine has extensive tubers, but I have read that they are not of use in reproduction. Can I remove some of them or do they all need to stay attached to the original plant? Please help!
When that happens it’s usually food storage by the plant for periods when it is too cold or too shady or minerals get depleted. If your plant is potted it will probably be okay to remove a few as long as you keep an eye out for mineral deficiencies.
You can also store them or plant them after breaking off on the off chance more sprouts will form. But some species do have storage only underground stems or projections.
Thank you so much! We are hoping this plant will thrive after being repotted as it was from my mother’s collection of plants. She has been dead 4 years and there are sentimental attachments to it.
