Everything I loved to grow up north won't work down here (sw fl.) So I've had to adapt.
(Boy do I miss my Jersey tomatoes)
My favorite would be orchids. (I have plants I got still blooming after 11 years here)
Next would be bromiliads, succulents & cactus.
All done on the lania. Too buggy and hot in the yard for 6 months a year for me to work in the yard.

I've gotten my first two palm trees lately. One is a pygmy date palm, and one is a pindo. I treat them like new little pets.

actually, a tree. I go back to White Rock, B.C. every year to visit my grafted walnut tree and see how it's doing. (planted 1980)

Tomatoes! Nothing tastes better than a home grown tomato fresh out of the garden. Yum!

I agree, this year I grew exactly one Cherokee Purple tomato plant, it gave me the best tomato sandwiches I had ever eaten, absolutely delicious. (I also had 55 other tomato plants, German Johnson, Celebrity, Better Boy.) Yup, I grow them for sandwiches!!!

Flowers! I really miss my rose garden (30 bushes) from when I lived in CA. I also love narcissus, zinnias, dalias, gardenias and, oh, there are too many to name!

I have yet to start a vegetable garden in NC, but next spring I plan to at least plant some tomatos, especially after reading this thread!

I just finished planting 72 pansies, and they will be my favorite thing to grow during the winter this year!

It is such a blessing to watch plants grow and thrive.
