I am 1/8 North American Indian from my Great Grandmother. I don't have any record, only the family name. What can I do to register as part indian?

Contact the tribal offices of the tribe your great grandmother was a member of. They will assist you.

That's a significant amount of savings compared to other states which can range up to 12% (depending on the state's breakdown, brackets, etc).

It's the same thing, if the community gets a revenue from some sort of local benefit it can often be shared amongst the community in some fashion (and as you might imagine there's plenty of poverty in Nevada). There are similar situations historically in oil centers like certain Texas regions and I'm sure many others.
Very true Alandros. Indeed. I very much agree.

I have records from my great uncle and great grandmother and a miller roll #. My grandmother was born 3 months later. We have the birth certificate for her. Are there any benefits for the descendents of the miller role; ie: college, medical?

^^Depending on your great grandmother's/grandmother's Eastern Cherokee blood quantum and your current blood quantum, you may be eligible for membership in the Eastern Band of Cherokee or even for benefits as a first generation descendant. Keep in mind, however, that the Miller Roll itself will not determine your rights. Rather, you must look to the Baker Roll, which was comprised in part by the inclusion of previous rolls (including the Miller Roll, I believe). Search to see if your ancestors are listed on the Baker Roll and go from there. If you're serious and want some professional help, reach out to the Eastern Band Genealogy Office: Genealogy | Cherokee, NC

I am adopted and when I looked up my birth parents I was told I am American Indian on my father's side. How does someone in my situation prove their Indian heritage? I am no longer in touch with either birth parent.
Can it be proven with those DNA kits that you can order?

I mean, a DNA kit may show that you're X percentage Native American, but, even assuming that's accurate, I don't know of any tribe that would allow you to use an ancestry DNA test for membership purposes; paternity DNA tests are a different story.

The Eastern Band Cherokee enrollment is closed. Only open for children under 18. Blood Quanta is determined from the Baker Rolls, 1/16 min.

I'm either 1/8th or 1/16th, my mom told me when I was little. But I wouldn't know how to prove it. She was estranged from her family, I think, and I never met them and now that she has died I can't find anything. She gave us names, some even unusual names, and I can find those names on Ancestry - but not with any connection to her. I have even wondered if she was an illegitimate child and that's why we can't find anything. She was born at home and there's no record of her birth.
