I did it the right way....It's been a 5year ordeal..but finally moving...Sold house, lined up job. However now it seems I am getting flack for moving (btw, it was my personal choice, as I've lived in the same city my whole life. Im 40.) Here is what Im getting.
1. You dont know anyone there?
2. Why do you want to move to a city where you dont know anyone?
3. You'll be by yourself.
I personally needed a change of scenery and venue. I mean is it that hard for some people to understand.
"Do what is best for you. "Its better to try, win, or lose that to live a life of regret" - I actually read that from a thread and it stuck with me.
I hear ya. After 26 years here, I'm dying to get out. Our move is planned for this summer. Enjoy exploring your new city - new restaurants, new activities, new job, new home - and eventually new friends, too!
We are a tad older ; late 40's and last year moved to Pittsburgh without two boys. We didn't know a single person, had no jobs and just took the chance.
Well 18 months later, I have a job I like, the kids ; boy are they thrilled at the experiences they have had and just love it here. My dh is at school full time and life is different. We spend more time as a family, try to explore and experience as much as we can and have no regrets.
To be fair, alot of their accusations are right. I made this same mistake earlier this year and I wouldn't advise it for anyone. You should have just traveled on vacation to different places if you had that much of a moving bug. Who knows if your going to like the place you end up at?
Don't let others make your delight in doing what you want to do turn to irritation or sadness. Just keep going forward.
Good luck on your new job in a new city.
