Hello my name is Michael. I currently live in a northern suburb in illinois and I need to move out of the state. I've been looking for a place to move to for a while now but I need an experts help. My choice was north Carolina, but that is no longer a viable option. Thank you for your help in advance.

Criteria:
- i require an eastern time zone due to my job (central is ok too, but I prefer eastern)
-excellent elementary, middle, high, and university school systems (public or private)
-propper weather. Meaning winters don't freeze to low teens and summers aren't scorching hot (i love 60-75F)
-air quality and pollution must be as low as possible
-cost of living relatively low compared to Chicago
-not looking for a large city, but the larger the better
-neighbors. We're looking for a home we can build or purchase a property in the woods. We would like solidarity and distance from neighbors. We don't want to live too far from neighbors but far enough to not hear them arguing, smell their food, or see their house. We are interested in a home with a large land surrounded by trees and nature.
-distance. We would like this home to be no more than 45 mins away from the main city and about 20 mins from a small town.
-culture and ethnicity. We would like a strong and vibrant culture with a wonderful nightlife. We would also like for the ethnicity to not be too far south in "hick" country or heavily "ghetto". We accept all ethnicities and religions so

I apologize if I may have offended someone.

Burlington has freezing winters. Greenville, SC is my pick or Ashville NC.

Items on your list cancel each other out.

If it weren't for winters, I'd recommend one of the Madison, WI suburbs, like Sun Prairie or similar.

Why are you not considering North Carolina? I think Asheville or the Raleigh/ Durham area would be good options.

OP - I think you're going to have to be more flexible. What are the top 2 criteria? You should concentrate on those because there is NO place on the East Coast that fits exactly what you listed. You'll get more responses if you can narrow it down to what's most important.

Good Luck.

My first thought was upstate NY... but it freezes... as I continued to read, it just got more challenging. I don't think a place like this exist here on the east coast but maybe check into Frederick, Maryland

What do you mean by that line I highlighted in red? Not only does that one item contradict itself, it contradicts a couple of your other criteria further down the list.
