I love how people are quick to congratulate other cities, but than come back downplaying Houston and saying the list is bogus. Nothing biased or hypocritical about that at all.....

Did you read the criteria they used?!
This is using the increase of job listings on a specific web site! It's beyond bunk haha
and dissecting the information and running it under a microscope picking everything apart.
of course not...... it never is. It's always about "setting the record straight"....
You can't possibly think that the article is a reasonably well-researched piece of info. All it takes is a cursory glance to see that the study is very poorly done. It uses completely arbitrary information to arrive at their conclusions. It is good for Houston that the companies in Houston have used this placement agency 147% more than last year, but that is all that the study really says.
Houston
Compared with the rest of the country, Houston—like Texas overall—is doing pretty well...........Today, Houston ranks high for total tech job postings and has above-average ratios for tech job postings to employment in multiple occupations.
Hmmm....not so fast with questioning the methodology of the original article. Check out this article from "2009" by Money Magazine.
Better article and source but still to the point having jobs in IT in a any general corporation is not anywhere near the same as pioneering technology development and the point on the rankings and where those jobs exist. Houston has weathered the recession well. Other interesting piece is that oil companies are cited as the reason, surprise but another point on the biggest driver in the economy, it is oil not tech (even though that and all industry have some tech jobs) the article didnt seem to source these green jobs as the driver in tech though, another surprise
And I dont think anyone argued that Houston is not adding jobs nor doing well; just the particular metric originally sourced was pretty much meaningless
Listen, I was paraphrasing the article.....so yeah the topic did closely match the article headline. But anyways, bash away. That's still not going to change the reality of strong progress in the Houston Tech industry. Not Withstanding any questionable methodology the "CALIFORNIA BASED COMPANY" did in compiling it's data, the facts are Houston has an emerging and strong Tech sector in the Green Energy field. That's not going to change anytime soon. If anything it will get stronger. I swear, people on here get their panties in a bunch over nothing.
Why do Houston lovers speak of panties so frequently?
