What's your line of work? I find it hilarious when people throw out cities without knowing information like this. You might be in industry X but city N doesn't have a good scene for it. I think knowing this will help people give you a better suggestion.
Ugh $600 a month is considered expensive rent in KC. i live in Bellevue and rent a ROOM for $1200. Nothing is reasonable about Seattle's cost of living.
A better move would be Houston or Dallas from KC. I think culturally they have more in common with KC than Atlanta and Seattle does.
Though i know a lot of people who get great starts in Atlanta. i wouldn't go to Seattle unless you had a damn good job already.
I am renting a one-bedroom condo with a garage within a 5 minute drive from downtown Bellevue for $1200. Seattle area is quite expensive, but you're exaggerating. I used to rent a room last year in a GREAT house close to Main and 112th for $700 and thought that was expensive. I don't think $1200 for a room is something many people in Bellevue would consider reasonable.
I'm looking to get out of Kansas City,MO due to the lack of jobs and high rate of crime. The problem is that I need to find a city to call home. I'm a 25,single college student looking for a great place to start over with decent weather around the month of March. The ideal place would be liberal and have some good job opportunities. Although, I am more focused on the weather,low crime and job aspects more than it being liberal.

Here is a darkhorse for you...Louisville. Everything you need and none of what you do not need, and it will be cheaper than anywhere you are looking.
I love the Seattle are myself. My fiance and I are trying to relocate back there from Las Vegas, Nevada. Yes the Seattle area is a little more expensive the the Vegas Valley but it's so worth it. I am so willing to pay a slightly higher rent to be in such a beautiful part of our country. I rented an apartment on the border of South Bellevue and Renton for just over $800 a month. So you can find some deal if you look hard.
Seattle.....the best city in the USA....cleanest.....most modern...most beautful....safest....great bus sytem....great wages....reasonable rents....etc...
Once you been to Seattle...there is no place else in the USA that you can go to....you will always yearn to go back......unless its Portland
