I notice that a lot of the younger people in the more rural areas of the Midwest and Great Plains tend to marry and settle down/have kids at a young age compared with other areas. I don't really understand it, but it must be a cultural thing
I think its worse in the southern states. I was in Gainesville, MO a few years back and was shocked and amazed at how many teenagers/early-twenty-somethings had kids and were married. Total culture shock! Ive seen this also in Alabama and parts of Georgia.

That tends to agree with the demographics of the area that indicate that a greater percentage of younger people stay in poorer very rural areas of southern MO instead of leaving. In the Great Plains most younger people leave regardless of whether their are jobs or not sometimes.
LOL,joining the fray here belatedly, but dont hate us (midwest) cuz we're beautiful!
You're right about that! As one example, Shandi Finnessey, who was Miss USA in 2004 and now the co-host of the TV game show "Lingo" is from my hometown of Florissant, MO! Shandi Finnessey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've always liked the northeast (I've been there loads of times and have family there) and notice that you really seem to hate it there, which is to bad, it is a nice place.

And I've noticed your location is Chicago...
visiting somewhere is not living there unfortunately
i must admit, there are places in the midwest i can't stand, and feel extremely trapped. It's not all perfect. I believe that there are really good things here though, and that the good things are on par with the good things/places in other regions.
