I haven't been to Latvia, but I've been to a few places in the Baltic area. I've visited Finland, across the Baltic from Latvia and also the Russian enclave of Kalaningrad (former East Prussia). Also been to many parts of Russia. I've met several people from Latvia who have told me some things about the place. I have heard that the Baltic states are doing pretty well in recent years, considering that they have been independent for only about 15 or 16 years. I imagine that it has not been easy to put together a country with an open market and democratic institutions from a part of the former USSR, where just about everything was controlled from the Kremlin. Isn't Latvia now a part of the EU and NATO?

And the question is: "Have you ever heard anything about country named Latvia?"
Please don't look a wikipedia but just tell us if you know anything about such country and if yes - then what do you know about it.
Thanks!
Yup.

Capital is Riga. Another city is Kaunas.

It's a Baltic country. They eat herring there, I presume.

They speak the Latvian language, which I believe is called "Lieutvas" or something like that. It has long and short vowels (it actually might have long, short, and medium, can't remember).

It was formerly part of the U.S.S.R.
