What city in the U.S. do you think would be the best to be homeless? Where they have tons of shelters, mass transit, soup kitchens, homeless orginziations and services. And where you won't be hasseled by the cops, the locals, or other homeless.
A little about me - I'm a 37 year old single white male, just lost his job and about to be homeless.
Thanks
Consider putting less effort into finding a suitable city to be homeless in and more effort into avoiding becoming homeless in the first place. I can almost guarantee that the hole you'll have to dig out of after you become homeless is a heck of a lot deeper than the hole you are currently in. You have access to the internet. Surely you can research to see what resources are available to you in your current situation. Ask people for help. Heck, if you need help researching resources PM me and I'LL help you. You owe it to yourself to do everything you can now before your situation dramatically declines, and that will happen regardless of which city you are in.
That being said, there are some people in SF who are sympathetic, but I think the system there is being overwhelmed by the homeless population. There are not enough resources.
And what resources there are (shelters, food kitchens etc) are so overrun by scammers and violent crazy addicts that "normal" homeless people are reluctant to use them... which gives you an idea of the overall composition of the "homeless" population here and, in turn, how many local residents have come to view them.
On behalf of the non-homeless population of San Francisco, I cordially invite the OP to settle in Portland.
I'd go with Honolulu on this one. There's a large homeless population there, and it's warm year-round. Of course, the plane ticket to get there could be a financial burden for you at this time. I'm sorry about your job loss. I hope you don't have to resort to being homeless.
