I hear the topic of race come up all the time on this forum. I believe in human rights for everyone no matter what. I am white but took my black ex boyfriend to Wisconsin, and they LOVED him in a city of 65,000 people with a .7% black population.
I have lived in the Tampa, FL area for a few years and I feel that the area is very tolerant. I see many interracial couples, and races mingling with each other.
This is a generalization I know but anything negative I have ever heard here seems to come from New Yorkers. What is the deal? I never would have thought. Has anybody else experienced this?
I don't think any major city is racist, but you do have pockets in some cities where I'm sure there are racism issues.
It may appear that way but I have heard that the cities of Chicago and Milwaukee are rediculously segregated even to this day. Not old school segregation but almost a segregation between neighborhoods.
I'd bet many Northern cities, but it is hard to really tell because most Northerners will keep any racists thoughts to themselves unless they are around an all white or white/hispanic group.
Boston natives, not all mind you, but probably more then you think.
Indianapolis is probably a given since the Klan was born in Indiana.
St. Paul is actually a hub for white power propaganda distribution.

The most racist city i have ever been to is Miami. If you are not cuban, you will feel the iron fist of racism lol. Not to say all cubans are racist or anything of the sort, i have nothing wrong with cubans at all. But many of the Latin people in the Miami area seem to look down on non Latinos, and if you dont speak spanish you're in for trouble lol. I moved there, and had to quickly move away because i could not take the racism(i'm white non-hispanic male by the way)

If anyone dared to express their opinion on this issue, they would probably be excoriated by the locals. I'll pass!
