My dad always said " Huffbuffer, you're dumb as a mule and twice as ugly". So I guess this poll is spot on.

I don't live in Alabama, but when I think about Alabama I think country/southern. Also I think of the song 'Sweet Home Alabama'. I wouldn't mind living there if I were to move, I'd choose it over California, Arizona, and Florida. It seems nice and cozy, I like that the state's population isn't 19 million people.

I think Huntsville is atypical of Alabama. Huntsville (and Birmingham) are probably the highest functioning places in Alabama. There's a lot of near poverty across the state while Huntsville is pretty middle class and stable.

Well, having came from California I would have to concede that there are more GOOD looking people over there. But they consume a lot of cosmetic along the way and created many rich plastic surgeons.

But I would not call Alabama people ugly. I would say there are less women here with "buns of steel" and more with "buns of dough". But women here smile more than there in California. They are all polite, smile & nod. Nothing is purrtier than a smile, not even a saline implants.

I've never been to Alabama much, but through it. I certainly couldn't form an opinion. I hate stereotypes though. My spouse and in-laws are from Cali and they do not fit all the Cali stereotypes.

Yes there are more good looking people in California but not because it is California but because California has what, ten times more people?

Good looking people usually reside in higher income neighborhoods (A man will marry the best looking woman he can afford...). There are LOTS of low income neighborhoods in California. Drive around Santa Ana, Pacoima, El Monte, Carson, San Pedro, Lawndale, Norwalk, etc and you'll see lots of out of shape, not very good looking people walking around. For every one hot looking chick in Newport Beach or Calabasas or South OC, there are 69 dumpy folks in the flat land grid of the LA Basin.

I really don't like this kind of thing as it perpetuates stereotypes. As a southerner, I know all too well how it feels to be dissed because of my accent or someone's assumption that I'm not educated or worldly. I have lived in a lot of different parts of the country and have learned that people are pretty much the same wherever you go. I love visiting places and learning about their traditions, hearing the accents, and seeing how they live. Before traveling I do try to learn more about where I'm going but I try really hard not to lump all the locals into a group.

I agree Sarah, the maps are dumb. And oh, California has more attractive people, yawn. Who cares? I don't visit/move to states because they have pretty people. I go because I like the weather, the seasons, the history, theme parks, etc.

You know what else California has? Severe gang problems, overcrowding, summer all year long (so boring to me, who wouldn't want snow in the winter?) Not saying California is a bad place, but every state has their downfalls. No place is utopia.
