The accent, tone and diction of Dion Waiters is Philly through and through! Sounds just like my relatives who live there.

Philadelphia is right in the mix of all of these cities yet the AAs there don't really have the same strong accent of their own, its alot more mild and neutral. Not saying they dont have their own accent and way of speaking but its nowhere as strong and recognizable as these other places.
Philly AAs do have a strong and obvious accent!

African Americans in NYC still have the southern twist to their accent also but Philly by far has it 100 times stronger!

No it isn’t. I have family in Philly. My cousins who are Haitian even have a southern twist to their accent living there. You won’t find stuff like that in NYC!

The Philly accent is distinct if you know what to look for, but not distinct enough to say, "The way you said _____, you must be from philly."

You're right. Black people in Philly defiitely have more of a Southern twang in their accents than in NYC.

Black people in NYC have an very noticeable twang in their accents. Listen to Stephen A Smith, Mark Jackson, Kenny Smith and Al Sharpton.
