Looks like a lot of people have left certain states recently and it’s not just one or two news outlets reporting it.
Places like Oregon especially took a hit.

These are the numbers we already saw from the Census Dept. They're also for a period that ended nearly a year ago, representing the Covid era.

2022 Population Estimates Characteristics

Today's release included the counties with the fastest percentage growth in the nation for these population groups. Kaufman is on the southeast side of metro Dallas/Fort Worth, and Williamson is on the north side of metro Austin.

Among counties with Black populations above 10,000, Kaufman County, Texas, had the fastest-growing Black population, growing by 21% or 6,207 people from 2021 to 2022 —adding to the growth that occurred from 2020 to 2021, when it grew by 20% or 4,912 residents.

Williamson County, Texas, had the fastest growth among counties with an Asian population above 10,000, expanding by 15.9% or 10,742 people.

Kaufman County, Texas, where the Hispanic population increased by 14.1% or 5,741 people, had the fastest growth among counties with a Hispanic population above 10,000.

Texas has 4.3 million Black people. That has to be Black in combination.

Post-2020 metro/micro statistical area delineations are expected within this month, June 2023. Per https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2021-15159/p-81:
"To increase transparency and consistency, we have provide a high level, preliminary schedule below... If OMB is unable to meet the public update schedule, we will notify the public as soon as feasible through the web page... Decennial Delineation June 2023." (No, there is no update on that web page.)

These have generally been issued as OMB bulletins (not Census!!!), which are posted at

You can set up a monitoring tool (e.g., Google Alerts, Visualping) to keep track of it.
