I am from "suburban PA", whatever that means, and don't act like that. But I guess I'm part of the problem since I live in NYC now?
Your generalizations and contradictions in this thread (you're speaking for millions of people) ironically make you appear privileged and entitled...
(Also appears that you ignore only my posts).
if it doesn't apply to you, it doesn't apply to you. Move on.
I work here now and the behavior I see now is appalling. Like most here agree with.

That is the point... You made sweeping generalizations about groups of people and sections of the country to support a questionable point about privilege and entitlement... Anecdotal experiences do not apply to most...

Now I will move on.
I mean again, its pretty obvious. Its the main source of gentrification/displacement by romanticizing cities and making it your personality. It is extremely common in these cities like Boston, NYC, SF and DC.
If this offended you, I apologize. But in reality, we have to work harder (as city planners) to make sure this doesn't get out of hand. I understand these cities are safe havens, but at the expense of who.
Every place that I can think of is open minded in some ways and close minded in others.. To me it seems like the close mindedness is a human condition rather than a regional characteristic.
Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Atlanta based on this criteria. All of these I would say are moderately liberal cities surrounded by moderately conservative suburbs and still have small numbers of white liberals in the suburbs which is much less so the case here in Louisiana where I live. DFW in particular is rich in traditional Texan cowboy culture but still has large numbers of transplants and immigrants.
New Orleans is a very liberal city surrounded by very conservative suburbs but most liberals there still don't behave like those in Seattle, San Francisco, etc since they know they are within a conservative state. New Orleans doesn't have any majority white liberal suburbs.
