That's great that you know your politics, and reasons for voting Obama. I think that's great and I wish every person understood and educated themselves before voting. But the argument was never that every AA votes for Obama because he's black. But rather, the majority do which is disturbing and shameful of our "supposed" society that is supposed to look beyond racial barriers. The fact of the matter is, when you have tens of millions of a group, vote in the same fashion in unprecedented numbers (which will likely turn out to be 85%- low 90's %), there is alot more going on than informed voters voting on the merits of the person. Yes african-americans typically vote democrat anyway, but the percentages that are voting Obama now, and voted for him against Clinton who was on the same level as Obama, are/were so startling...GIVE ME A BREAK. We cant all be so naive as to whats happening and why people are voting a certain way.

I would be making the same argument PRO-OBAMA if statistical figures showed that whites were voting McCain in similar ways based on Obama's skin color, or the fact that his name is Barrack Hussein Obama. I would say its a bunch of bull**** that they wont vote for him based on his intelligence or political stances. But the fact is, whitey has been giving Obama the deserved equal treatment.
So I'm guessing that you've talked to all of us African Americans and came up with this analysis? Or wait, you took a poll? Or better yet, your pyschic?

The first state that Obama won in the primaries was IOWA. Apparently blacks aren't the only ones who see Obama as a viable candidate.

Your trying to turn an assumption into a fact. I'm sorry, it just doesn't work that way.

Conservatives, as I know them, only want equal rights for everyone, not special, feel-good rights for certain groups of people.
Democrats do obsess over race too much.

So that would mean conservatives are in favor of Gay-Rights and support the passage of the the Equal Rights Amendment then?

If Barack Obama was a Republican, and shared McCain's policies, he'd attract maybe 20% of the black vote.

Right, in other words, his race is secondary to the main rationale that most blacks have when they vote, which is to say for the Democrats.

Equal rights are already in the Constitution. No more amendments are needed for that.

The constitution ensures citizenship, not equality. There's a difference between the two.
