When I was young (starting at 12 or so), I used to love to study maps and our old beat up atlas of the United States. I still pull out the atlas (many years later) for fun. I wonder what brings people to this forum. Most of the people I know would have not the slightest interest in a forum about cities, states, who's bigger, better, more powerful, etc. I'm just wondering if many others took a young interest in these things, as I did.

I've always loved maps. Not really of the U.S., although those are good too. I especially like historical maps of Europe or world maps showing things like religion, language family, GDP, and other stuff.

I've always been a map geek. When I was a little kid, my father's office walls were covered with maps that I drew freehand.

I am a map geek too. Own a BIG Rand McNally US atlas and whenever I hear of a place, I pull it out and locate it. I do this ALOT while watching TV. I also got a World Atlas for Christmas last year and LOVE it. Years ago I flooded Rand McNally with resumes (they are about 15 miles from where I live) but no response. They don't realize that I would be one of the most passionate employees they'd ever have. Their loss. I'm in sales and know I'd make a great map salesperson. My passion started when my parent's bought me a globe when I was about 8. Every night my dad would have me spin the globe and see where my finger landed. Then we'd crack open the Encyclopedia and read about the place. I have been curious about other places ever since and even study my own's city's map from time to time. Love maps! Nice to know that there are others out there, lol!

Yes, total map geek! I have spent hours and hours looking at maps before. I like studying metropolitan area maps the best, learning every nook and cranny of the city. And LA is so big the place won't even fit on one map!
