The bad economy and selling things
We sold electronics, sold or traded about $10,000 in jewelery in the last 4 years, have traded a Subaru STI(World Ralley Racing version), and will sell our old furniture and some other things when we move back to the west this summer. Some people here just pick up and leave while leaving all kinds of things behind.
We have been in and out of pawn shops lately.
I only buy clothes for me and my family at Marshalls and discount stores now.
For us it is mostly because of the fact that my husband cannot find work in QA/HACCP in food manufacturing here which he usually has done elsewhere and are now hiring in the west all over. Instead he works some labor job for half of what he would make. Well that is for another thread.
People are selling there homes furnished, with cars, riding lawn mowers and ect. in order for it to sell.
Someone is giving free haircuts this weekend at a salon for food items.
People are willing to barter services for things and trade homes and cars rather than have to go through the process of selling it all involving cash.
Just wait till summer. Your area does great every summer regardless of the economy. People tend to scratch there Florida vacations when things are tight and drive to Branson instead.
Well, I cannot say that we are hurting for business in the summer. But wages are very low here. Also, the past few years business has been dropping off somewhat. No one knows what this coming season will bring.
