Fun Fact: Philadelphians call the William Penn statue on top of City Hall "Billy Penn." Because we're sophisticated like that.

Philadelphia & San Francisco.

DC has a nice one.

Charlotte isn’t ugly but it’s a brutalist triangle.

Im not familiar with other city hall buildings.

In addition to Portland, ME, Chattanooga, Wilmington NC, St. Joseph MO, and Norwich CT (previously mentioned), I was doing some research on smaller/mid-sized cities, and found these awesome city halls (this is non-comprehensive, these were just some I found randomly):

Peoria, IL (WOW!):
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.6929...8192?entry=ttu

Savannah, GA:
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.0805...8192?entry=ttu

Reading, PA (Wow!):
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.3368...l=en&entry=ttu

Duluth, MN:
https://www.google.com/maps/@46.7827...8192?entry=ttu

Lincoln, NE (not bad):
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.8136...6656?entry=ttu

Huntington, WV:
https://www.google.com/maps/@38.4191...l=en&entry=ttu

Davenport, IA:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.5234...l=en&entry=ttu

Sioux City, IA:
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.4962...l=en&entry=ttu

Bangor, ME:
https://www.google.com/maps/@44.8035...8192?entry=ttu

Williamsport, PA:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.2401...l=en&entry=ttu

Eau Claire, WI:
https://www.google.com/maps/@44.8118...l=en&entry=ttu

Butte, MT (Apparently this is also the Silver Bow County Courthouse because Butte has a consolidated city-county structure, so IDK if this one should count...)
https://www.google.com/maps/@46.0143...8192?entry=ttu

Waterbury, CT:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.5543...8192?entry=ttu

Manchester, NH:
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.9908...l=en&entry=ttu

Davenport, IA and Sioux City, IA looks so similar, they are almost cut from the exact same cloth.

Yeah, isn't that amazing?

Some other observations:

1) Duluth's city hall is part of a trio of government buildings that I will wager were built at the same time.

In that Street View, the one in the center is the St. Louis County Courthouse. The Federal Building and US Courthouse is to its left. Duluth City Hall is to its right.

Very Beaux-Arts, if you ask me.

2) Butte City Hall/Silver Bow County Courthouse looked to me like a grander version of the Ocean City, NJ, City Hall.

3) Of the various small to mid-sized cities in New England, Manchester is probably my least favorite; it lacks both charm and what I would call a coherent city center (it seems to me to be just strung out along Elm Street). But I think Manchester City Hall is quite cool — Gothic Revival government buildings are very rare to begin with, and that's a particularly attractive one.

Philadelphia City Hall

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_City_Hall

Philadelphia has to be one of the best. Such a beautiful building.

Then there is the giant statue of William Penn at the top of the building. The statue is hollow, there is a way to climb all the way to the top and come out through an opening at the top of Penn's hat.

I do not know if I commented on this thread already but I love that New York City has literally the oldest city hall still in use, for over 200 years. The City Hall sits in City Hall Park which used to be the New York Commons.

Good finds. Duluth's in particular looks like it should be for a much bigger city.

For another mid-sized city, Spokane, WA's city hall has some beautiful stonework.
