If you had to pick one other state that's most like NJ, what would it be?

I wouldn't badmouth any of the other states that way.

Connecticut, or possibly Rhode Island.

It hard to compare because there are not any states that are sandwiched between two major cities and have a huge coastline.

For population density: RI and MA, comes to mind.

For income per capita: Obviously, MD and CT ( top 3 in the nation ).

For diversity: I will say CA, and NY.

Connecticut and Maryland.

Connecticut because of the city similarities (dense, mid-sized, predominately minorities), and Maryland because of it's population density (on the eastern half at least)
CT and MD also are some of the richest states per capita, and both states are up there when it comes to education.. just like NJ

New Jersey's better than both states though..
