I have decided I absolutely hate the heat. I could live in a fall/winter climate all year long and be happy I think. I grew up in Maryland - horribly hot and humid summers. I live in North Carolina now - nice fall season, but winters are a little TOO mild sometimes, and this summer has been absolutely HORRIFIC. I am SO tired of having to run the air conditioning all the time and keep the windows shut, but the heat is just too much to bear. I lived in Montana for a while, you would have thought that far North the summers would have been cool - nope, hot as blazes.

Where in this country are the summers more pleasant? I don't mind a cold, long winter if it's a fair trade-off for a pleasant summer season where you can actually stand to be outside.

Well, the Upper Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, and New England are the obvious options.

In 2 out of those 3, you'll be exchanging summer heat for snow, ice and bitter cold in a version of winter that extends well past its calendar boundaries. If your winter driving/coping skills are not well-developed, it's something to consider.

Hrrm... northern california, pac nw... heck coastal california all the way down...If you want the snow and colder just drive vertically.
What is an air conditioner?
Also what is this humidity thing you are talking about?
I would skip the upper midwest... unless you want an equally brutal winter imo...plus it still can get very humid particularly in Wisconsin and Minnesota...Camping in July in Wisconsin... bad idea, unless you want to be hot sticky and eaten by mosquitos.
You really need to get west of rockies if humidity is an issue for you.
