I've heard a rumor that from atop the Sears Tower in Chicago on a very clear day that you can see both the skyline of NYC and LA at the same time. Okay, that's not true. Damn Denver gets in the way.
You can see Philadelphia and NYC at the same time atop a rollercoaster in Six Flags
Here's some from my metro where you can see St. Paul and Mpls at the same time:

Here's a quick something I whipped up regarding this. Obviously Google Earth view distance does not equal real world view distance, but you get the idea
Looking west, you can see Philly at the left
Then turned around 90º facing north, you can see Lower Manhattan at the far right
SF from Chabot Park, Castro valley, about 15-20 miles to the east:

I live about 30 miles from DT Minneapolis and took a helicopter from my backyard and going straight up at about 150 feet up I could see DT MPLS clear as day! It was awesome.
I guess no one wants to talk about LA because of the stereotype.
Let me tell you, from where I live there are too many mountains (and I'm near the top of a hill myself) to see anything. From the 2 freeway, going down from La Canada and La Crescenta to Glendale, I can ALWAYS see the Downtown LA skyline--15 miles away. On most days, I can see that...and on some days, Catalina Island, all the way out in the Pacific! It's easily 40 miles and at most 56 miles.
Those not from LA won't realize this, but its so big that it's impossible to see Hollywood's skyline or Mid-Wilshire's Skyline or even the Century City Skyline.
From the Getty Center, you can see all of them--on a clear day. Simply go on Wikipedia to see the pictures. Sorry that I don't know how to post pictures.

Now that's pretty awesome! The view of skyscrapers rising from the ocean must look pretty cool. I've only seen pictures like this of Chicago from the Lake Michigan shores in Indiana. Thanks for posting
