Depends on what you look for in a lake?

Peace & quiet and natural scenery for fishing, paddling or other enjoyment
or...
noise, development and large houses polluting the shore, jet skis, too many drunk boaters and other annoyances like helicopters?

I agree. The mountain lakes are hard to beat.

The mountain lakes are my favorites. However, I'm looking at this from a scenery/ relaxing aspect. Any fishermen out there?

I had a friend that retired to Lake Seminole primarily because of its reputation for good fishing.

I love Lake Allatoona for its proximity to Atlanta and scenic beauty, especially around Red Mountain State Park.

But I can't think of a lake in Georgia I don't like. They are all wonderful in their own way. The one I did find a little disappointing was Carter's Lake near Ellijay, not many amenities and limited access.
