Long story short, I'm 22, male and really starting to get into soccer. The problem is, I've never played it. I would like to get involved in some sport this upcoming spring/summer and would hate to think that I'm "too old" to start. All the Soccer Leagues and Associations that I've found deal primarily with youth and if there are any adult leagues, it's just that, adult leagues that assume that you have some experience under your belt (obviously neither fit the bill for me). So is there anything in the GR area (or a bit outside) that might offer me something Soccer-related in the upcoming year?

Worst case scenario, I find a local field and play with a few buds, but I would definitely love to be able to get into something a bit more professional. Any suggestions, advice, recommendations, etc. are all appreciated (well, the positive ones at least ).

I think you just have to join a league and take some knocks for a while. There are indoor and outdoor leagues all over the area. I used to belong to an outdoor pickup game group, but a lot of the guys were younger than me in their late 20's, early 30's, and I thought I was going to have a heart attack keeping up.

The main thing I would do when you're not playing is run. Treadmill, track, street, whatever. Figure a game is at least an hour and a half, so be able to run for at least an hour comfortably. The ball handling and passing will just come with time.
