It's mind blowing to me that someone who would even click on the great debate forum would even need proof for such an obvious and well known point. It's like someone going to an animal forum and demanding proof that cats are different from dogs.
Thats why I'm snippy and the proof I gave you is just the tip of the iceberg because I didn't feel like spending any longer than 3 minutes finding proof for such an obvious point.
I just wanted you to expound on your point. It didn't kill you, to spend three minutes finding evidence, to back up your statement. So you can pull in your claws now.
When I went to school, there were students from well-to-do families from the oil and horse businesses attending the same classes as some students who didn't have running water in the home. Our electives included shop, home ec, and personal finance. If they couldn't go to college, they could go to vocational school or the military. There are plenty of opportunities for career training if you're willing to work hard. Some jobs offer an apprenticeship for job training.
Oh and let's look at some pro-sports players. Though they have multi-million dollar contracts, several leave the sport completely broke. Just because you have money doesn't mean you'll stay rich. And what about children of rich celebrities who end up dead from OD or in jail? It's about personal choice and personal responsibility. Quit blaming "the man" and focus on taking responsibility for your choices which led you to your current state. With the exception of a natural disaster, huge medical problems, or the loss of an entire industry in your area,...you are the only one who deserves the blame for your state.
I understand what you are saying here. Some of us are dealt a better hand to begin with. I was. I had good parents, a safe home and plenty to eat. This doesn't mean I can do a make over of a poor persons life. The big changes still have to come from them. In the US we keep creating social programs to help the poverty stricken and in the long run they increase poverty. How can anyone here say this isn't the case? And the OP still hasn't answered the question about what they think should be changed.
Oh yes I have! You just have to look through my posts, and find the one that suggests solutions.
Observation. Get to know some poor people. Get to know a lot of them. And please learn where a comma goes in a sentence.
I know plenty of poor people, and have all of my life. Did you think that I live in a gated community or something?? I'm black, and I'm and VERY familiar with poverty, and the poor! As for my periods in sentences, deal with it.
